Steps

①Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

②In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together until well combined.

③Add the cold butter cubes to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

④Stir in the dried cranberries until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

⑤In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vanilla extract, and beaten egg.

⑥Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour the wet mixture into it. Gently stir the ingredients together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in tough scones.

⑦Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Shape the dough into a 1-inch thick circle.

⑧Using a sharp knife or a round cookie cutter, cut the dough into individual scones. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each scone.

⑨Bake the scones in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

⑩Once they are done, remove the scones from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly.Serve the cranberry scones warm or at room temperature. They are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days.
